More about Yellow Scotch Bonnet

Capsicum annuum

Also known as Jamaican Hot, Martinique, or Bahama Mama, Yellow Scotch Bonnet is a popular Jamaican hot pepper often used to make traditional Jamaican jerk seasoning.  Plants produce amazing yields of lemon-yellow peppers with a sweet, citrus-like flavor and about the same heat level as a habanero.  Take care to protect hands when handling fruit or seeds.  They are very, very hot.  Harvests begin approximately 90 days after transplant.  Each packet contains a minimum of 10 seeds.

IMPORTANT: Super-hot chilis can be challenging to grow as they have a long germination period (21-28 days) and require long, hot growing seasons.  See our article on More

Interestingly different variety than what I am used to

Almost three weeks since YSB peppers shown true leaves.
This variety seems to be slow to germinate (being beaten in
terms of speed with corn germinated) and a slow start but
almost three weeks in, seem to be slowly picking up speed.
I havent gotten flowers or fruit yet but I hope they are delicious.
VERY good germination % rate.
Photo was taken today, cheers, May 26th 2024.
