More about Danish Ballhead

Brassica oleracea

Danish Ballhead cabbage is an old-time variety with roots dating back to the 15th century.  One of our most reliable cabbages, Danish Ballhead is a consistent producer of solid, round heads weighing roughly 5 to 7 pounds each and measuring up to 10 inches across.  It also seems to have fewer insect problems than other varieties we've tried.  Danish Ballhead is a full-season cabbage and as such is very well-suited for winter storage.  Matures approximately 110 days after transplant.  Each packet contains a minimum of 100 seeds.

Fungal death

I am in an interesting spot, but thought to remind growers to precook your soil before planting your starts to insure healthy starts. I forgot which cost me everything last year. No fault to the seed...all mine. I just plain forgot and we happen to get every kind of problem in the river valley without prevention...even sometimes with it. Store bought soil. The seeds all germinated...heat rope underneath enhanced this and brings better plants. Some great seed, packaging, experience with company.
