More about German Giant

Raphanus sativus

An heirloom dating back to the 1800's, German Giant is a reliable producer of round, pink radishes that can grow to 3 inches without getting pithy.  German Giant has an excellent mild flavor and crunchy texture.  We love to slice them into thin rounds, which we serve in place of a cracker with assorted cheeses and cured meats.  German Giant is a reliable producer for both spring and fall planting.  30 days to harvest.  Each packet contains a minimum of 150 seeds.

Year round radish.

Zone 4-5 limits the growing season. Using inexpensive generic LED growth lights plus southern exposure to grow lettuce and now radish indoors during the too cold months. The German Giants seeds yielded a high quality crop from Spring through Autumn up here. Gave them a try using the growth lights this Winter. Yield and quality was good after repositioning the lights to a lower level.
