More about Honey Boat Delicata

Cucurbita pepo

Honey Boat Delicata is an improved strain of delicata bred by Dr. James Baggett at Oregon State University and introduced to growers in 1990.  Plants produce excellent yields of oblong, striped squash with tender skins and sweet, orange flesh.  We love that they can be prepared without removing the skins.  We just scoop out the seeds, slice into rings, season and roast.  Our children absolutely love them.  In fact, we recently caught our 4-year-old sneaking leftover Honey Boat rings into her bedroom one evening.  We're still not sure who was fooling who, but we're happy just the same.  90-100 days to harvest.  Each packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds.
