More about Mennonite

Sorghum bicolor

Mennonite is an heirloom cane sorghum grown by the Mennonite community of Jamesport, Missouri.  Seven to nine-foot-tall stalks are traditionally pressed to release a sugary, green juice that is then strained and cooked down into a thick, light-colored syrup.  Traditionally served on pancakes or buttered biscuits.  Amber-colored seed can also be ground into a gluten-free flour for making pancakes or other baked goods.  105 days to harvest.  A packet contains a minimum of 100 seeds.

Can't wait

I purchased the seeds to plant this coming spring. I have done a lot of research on sorghum and am so excited to plant this. They had a good variety of different types and I will be planting a couple of them. I hope my family along with the bees, chickens, and cows will absolutely love it.

1st Time planting Sorghum

Very prompt service. I like the re-sealable package, but I had poor germination. Maybe me or maybe the weather. Lots of rain. I couldn't give 5 stars though.

Thanks for your review, Dennis. All of our seeds are covered by a satisfaction guarantee, no matter the cause. We'll be in touch about a refund or replacement.

Ten stars

5 weeks of near drought, temps 100. This is the only test patch that grew. It thrived. 100% germination. Excellent seed. The best seed review I have ever given. Excellent.

Wow, thank you so much for your review! We are so happy you are having a good experience with our Mennonite seeds.
