More about Red Velvet

Latuca sativa

With vibrant red leaves and a smooth, velvety texture, this variety holds true to its name.  Red Velvet lettuce produces crimson red, slightly wrinkled leaves.  This lettuce is velvety soft, but not thin or flimsy.  We enjoy it at all stages and like to mix it in with other fancy lettuces.  Because the leaves are not flat, they do a great job of carrying the dressing while staying light and fluffy, as opposed to some other lettuces which seem to collapse once you add dressing.  Fun to grow and a delight to eat.  Excellent lettuce all around.  Approximately 55 days to harvest.  Each packet contains a minimum of 150 seeds.
