More about Ideal Market

Phaseolus vulgaris

Originally introduced as Black Creaseback and later renamed Ideal Market by the Chris Reuter Seed Co. of New Orleans.  Pole-type variety produces an abundance of 5-inch-long stringless beans that are both sweet and crisp.  An excellent variety under most circumstances, however it has proven to be slightly more susceptible to Japanese Beetles than other varieties we've tried.  If you live in an area with significant Japanese Beetle pressure, we would instead recommend "Purple Pod Pole" which has some degree of resistance.  If beetles are not a problem in your area, Ideal Market's superb productivity and excellent flavor make it well worth a try.  Harvests begin 65-70 days after sowing.  Each packet co... Wow! Thresh Seed Company History and Products!

So thrilled! I am so delighted that I found your heirloom seed company!!
( I was browsing Amazon when I came upon your Snap Bean seed packet.) Best yet, I loved finding your website and reading about your humble beginnings while in college and after graduating. Your ingenuity and entrepreneurial skills have led you to preserving organic farming and bringing that joy to others. My great, great grandparents began farming in the 1850’s after coming to this country from England. While the farm no long is in existence, my love for organic gardening Still runs deep. Thanks for providing the seeds and rejuvenating old memories. All the best, Sue

Wow, thank you so much Susan for these incredibly kind words. We love what we do and we love hearing from gardeners who share our passion. We are so grateful to have you as a customer!
