More about Winfield Pole

Phaseolus lunatis

Winfield Pole is a beautiful heirloom lima bean originating from Mrs. Winfield of Painted Post, NY sometime in the 1940's.  Later sold under the name "North Pole" by Farmer Seed and Nursery Company of Faribault, MN.  Vigorous, vining plants produce large, 4-inch pods bearing up to 3 seeds each.  Huge, flat seeds are primarily white with punctate, burgundy speckles concentrated on one end.  Yields well even during periods of extreme heat and drought.  Very rare.  Approximately 95 days to harvest.  Each packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds.
