More about Craig's Grande Jalapeno

Capsicum annuum

Craig's Grande is a selection of jalapeno developed by Redwood City Seeds that is favored for its spicy, large jalapenos.  Stocky plants produce abundant yields of large, 3 to 4-inch-long jalapenos that are perfect for slicing, pickling, or stuffing. We love to use Craig's Grande jalapenos to make massive jalapeno poppers.  Depending on the weather and time of year, they can be a bit hotter than the common jalapeno, but boy are they good!  In terms of spiciness, we would rate Craig's Grande Jalapeno on the higher end of the jalapeno range, around 5,000-8,000 Scoville units. Harvests begin approximately 70 days from transplant.  Each packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds.

No germination from 15 of these. Other Thresh seeds have been really good, but not these.

Hi James, thanks for your feedback. All of our seeds are regularly tested for germination—this lot tested at 99% germ in its most recent test. That being said, we never dismiss the possibility that seeds can be damaged in transit. Indeed, we've seen it happen. That's why we offer a 100% guarantee on all of our seeds. We will be in touch about a refund or replacement.

In the meantime, I'm also going to include a link to a helpful article on troubleshooting pepper germination issues, as peppers are among the more challenging of the vegetables to get started. The highlights here: heat mat beneath, dome on top, little to no water for the first two weeks, not counting the initial soak, of course.
